PLATINUM PROFILE ARTIST: LEE ANN WOMACK

Lee Ann Womack. In total, Womack has issued 6 studio albums, 2 compilation albums, and placed 22 singles on Billboard Country Chart.
After spending several years as a songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, Womack was signed to Decca Nashville Records and released her self-titled debut album in 1997.[1] Two singles released from the album ("The Fool" and "You've Got to Talk to Me") both reached the #2 spot on the Billboard Country Chart. The album went Platinum and Womack became one of the most popular new female contemporary country artists. Much of her material closely resembled that of 60s and 70s country music artists, such as Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette, and Womack therefore was given high praise by man music critics. In 1998 she released her second album, Some Things I Know, which issued a total of four singles between 1998 and 1999, and eventually the album was certified Gold.
In 2000, Womack released the single entitled "I Hope You Dance," which became her biggest hit and signature song, spending five weeks at #1 on the Billboard Country Chart, and then ultimately crossing over into the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, peaking at #14 and #1 respectively. An album of the same name was also released and sold three million copies in the United States, certifying 3× Multi-Platinum. Her next album released in 2002, Something Worth Leaving Behind, was aimed at the Pop market and was not as successful as her previous records. Womack eventually returned with her fifth studio effort in early 2005 titled, There's More Where That Came From, which was praised for its traditionally-sounding music, winning the Country Music Association's "Album of the Year" award.
After a three-year hiatus, Womack signed with MCA Nashville Records, and released the single, "Last Call" to radio in June 2008, followed by her sixth studio album, Call Me Crazy that October. During the course of her career, 7 of Womack's singles have reached the Top 10, four more reached the Top 20, and two reached #1. In the United States, she has sold a total of nearly 7 million records
